We were introduced to Aquaphalt, this past Winter by SPC Specialty Products. It was a challenging season for us, because of the snow and freeze/thaw cycles.
Aquaphalt looks like cold patch but acts like hot mix and it comes in a user-friendly bucket. We have noticed that it doesn't degrade like regular asphalt or cold patch .. We use it on both asphalt and concrete. It's also effective in tough applications, like on pavement in standing water in parking lots. Our Maintenance crew is impressed with Aquaphalt's performance because it's easy to work with,you can use it in the rain, and stays much longer than regular cold patch and our crew believes it's easier to work with.
The school district uses Aquaphalt on our parking lots, bus loops and sidewalks. It's convenient to use because potholes can be filled in any weather, rain or shine. Aquaphalt doesn't pick up on tires or squish out of the hole, and we have noticed freshly filled potholes can be driven on immediately. In twelve to 24 hours, Aquaphalt has completely hardened, and it doesn't go anywhere ... just like asphalt.
We've noticed our facilities' appearance has improved because it reduces the amount of scattered cold patch laying on the ground. Aquaphalt is more expensive than traditional cold patch, but it's "one and done". Our maintenance crew doesn't have to return to fill the same pothole more than once.
SPC Specialty Products provides excellent service and support, both in product knowledge and availability. We know we can count on them when we need them. Bloomfield Hills Schools plans to keep using Aquaphalt because of the product and excellent customer service.
